The XT5, which Cadillac introduced in 2017, is a midsize SUV with seating up to 5. Having better than average EPA (miles per gallon) for its class, it reduces fuel costs and pollution. With optional all-wheel drive (AWD), it can easily bypass mud and snow. Cadillac offers a 4-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty, and a 6-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty on its lineup.

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is above average compared to all vehicles.

Comparison to all vehicles.  This plot shows RSC safety scores on the horizontal axis vs. the number of vehicles with each safety score (depicted by bar height and percentages at the bottom). Colors reflect vehicle safety, ranging from red (not that safe) to green (safer). For reference, a score of 0 implies a 0.15% chance of driver death (13% chance of driver injury) over 15 years, and a score of 100 reflects a 0.016% chance (1.4% chance of driver injury). The 2022 Cadillac XT5 has a score of 85, implying a 0.035% chance of driver death (3.1% chance of injury). If equipped with optional advanced driver safety features, the chance of death falls to 0.03%, and the chance of injury falls to 2.7%.

We estimate that the 2022 Cadillac XT5 has a vehicle lifetime fatality chance of 0.035% and a vehicle lifetime injury chance of 3.9923%, meaning the average driver has a 0.035% chance of dying in an accident if they drive the car under regular conditions for fifteen years, and a 3.9923% chance of being injured.

Compared to the average vehicle, the 2022 Cadillac XT5 is 25% less likely to result in a fatal accident. Compared to other suvs, the 2022 Cadillac XT5 is 14% less likely to result in a fatal accident.

2022 Cadillac XT5 offers AEB optionally. With AEB, the vehicle lifetime fatality chance drops by 13%.

Active safety features greatly enhance occupant safety by reducing the likelihood of a crash. The following active safety systems are included even on lower trims/versions of the 2022 Cadillac XT5: Super Cruise with Forward Collision Alert (FCA), Front Pedestrian Braking, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Some safety features are optional on the 2022 Cadillac XT5--- although they add to the cost, one should consider the benefits of Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and Side Blind Zone System.

Safety features can still make a vehicle safer, even if not as flashy as emergency automatic braking. Side mirror turn signals are standard on the Cadillac XT5. They alert other vehicles of your intention to switch lanes, which allows the other vehicle's driver to prevent an impending accident with you. Standard Cornering Headlights / Leveling Head Lamps points head lamps towards where the vehicle is heading, better lighting the road ahead.
