The NX, part of Lexus's lineup since 1991, is a midsize SUV with seating up to 5. It handles mud, snow, and sand with ease with standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The NX provides superior EPA (miles per gallon) for its class, easing fuel costs and reducing pollution. The Lexus NX has some real zest, surpassing typical horsepower for its class. Lexus offers a 4-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty, and a 6-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty on its lineup.

Comparison to all vehicles.  This plot shows RSC safety scores on the horizontal axis vs. the number of vehicles with each safety score (depicted by bar height and percentages at the bottom). Colors reflect vehicle safety, ranging from red (not that safe) to green (safer). For reference, a score of 0 implies a 0.15% chance of driver death (13% chance of driver injury) over 15 years, and a score of 100 reflects a 0.016% chance (1.4% chance of driver injury). The 2022 Lexus NX has a score of 92, implying a 0.026% chance of driver death (2.3% chance of injury).

We estimate that the 2022 Lexus NX has a vehicle lifetime fatality chance of 0.0261% and a vehicle lifetime injury chance of 2.9838%, meaning the average driver has a 0.0261% chance of dying in an accident if they drive the car under regular conditions for fifteen years, and a 2.9838% chance of being injured.

Compared to the average vehicle, the 2022 Lexus NX is 44% less likely to result in a fatal accident. Compared to other suvs, the 2022 Lexus NX is 36% less likely to result in a fatal accident.

One of the key safety features of the NX Plug-in Hybrid is its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). This system includes a range of features that are designed to help drivers avoid accidents and stay safe on the road. These features include a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). The PCS can detect potential collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, while the LDA warns the driver if they are drifting out of their lane. The LTA helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane, while the DRCC helps maintain a safe distance from other vehicles on the road.

The NX Plug-in Hybrid also comes with Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, which includes a range of advanced safety features, such as Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Road Sign Assist can detect and display road signs, while Automatic High Beams automatically switch between high and low beams to improve visibility at night. The Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helps drivers avoid collisions by alerting them to vehicles in their blind spot or approaching from behind.
