Volvo's IntelliSafe active safety features can protect loved ones by reducing accident severity and preventing accidents. All trims and versions of the 2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge include the following active safety systems: Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning System, and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).

Some advanced safety features --- while not cutting edge --- can still improve vehicle safety. Optional Cornering Headlights / Leveling Head Lamps better illuminate the road ahead --- the lights point towards the direction that the vehicle is heading. Standard Automatic High Beams automatically switches high beam headlights off when oncoming traffic is approaching and turns them back on when there aren't any vehicles ahead. Standard side mirror turn signals can help when you don't see a vehicle in your blind spot, by alerting them to your intention to switch lanes, which allows the other driver to avoid an accident with you.
